The E-rickshaw driving training is a different initiative to empower and bring women to the main stream of society. SK Foundation is running this training program in association with FICCI FLO Jaipur chapter. The main purpose of this program is to empower deprived women who are bread winners and enable them to support their families monetarily with a stable income. This is a livelihood development program with the main objective to provide training for women in E-Rickshaw driving and maintenance, this is also to make them licensed specialised drivers. Initially two batches consist of fifteen trainees each batch with a qualified trainer. They are helped to get learner’s license initially and are trained to acquire the final license followed by a graduation ceremony. There is a counselling process for the selection of suitable candidates.
E-Rickshaw driving was a job dominated by men in the society. It was considered almost a prohibited for women to be an E-Rickshaw driver. Our E-Rickshaw training program is a challenge in the male dominated society. But the members of SK Foundation were determined to make this program a big success. The project has been started successfully and 30 women who hail from economically disadvantaged sections of rural areas are trained successfully in this program.
This is a Dream project of Mrs Shalini Setia (Managing Trustee SK Foundation). She is very passionate about this program and the whole idea was her for implementing this program. And the thought behind this program is to give training and livelihood to the underprivileged women of rural area who is enthusiastic to learn new skills and to support their families by earning money on their own. This program is of 120 Hrs, every day 4 hrs training will be there, 60% part of training is on practical basis. In this program women learn about the driving & maintenance of E-Rickshaw as well as road safety and traffic rules. After completion of this program a license camp will be organize by the training provider (NEWS). The training partner will also assist the trainees in loan process to purchase E-rickshaw and to get the subsidy on electric vehicle.
SK foundation starts this program in collaboration with FICCI FLO & National Education and welfare society. This program was started on 12th June 2023. In this program free of cost training kit distributed to the trainees (One apron, Cap, Training Book, Note Book, Pen & Bag).
30 women have completed their training and five of them have Purchased the E-rickshaw & they have started earning 500 – 600 per day from this skill. One of the trainee is associated with a hotel to Pick & drop their guests.
